Pokemon Legends: Ho-Oh's Promise

Chapter 3: Reflections (Part 1) Cont.

Being bound so tightly into the Bond, Ho-Oh knew of the villagers in Sansmont and their desecration of the connection between humans and Pokemon. Ho-Oh endured countless years until it resist the rage no longer. In anger, it burned most of the villagers fields then bestowed a warning. It gave these villagers a Flame, not the ordinary kind it used to burn the fields, but a Flame that contained a curse. Should the Flame go out, these humans, these haters of Pokemon, would in turn, become Pokemon themselves.

The people of Sansmont endured the hardest winter they ever had. With most of their grains and crops burned everyone tightened rationed what food survived. They built a building surrounding the Flame, not precisely a shrine or temple for those are for worshipers and pilgrims, it was just that, a building. The building's purpose was to protect the Flame from wind and rain, to keep it from going out for all eternity.

Generations passed and the tale of Ho-Oh's visit became nothing more then a story to tell misbehaving children for the people of Sansmont kept true to their ancestors beliefs and continued to see Pokemon as mindless beasts. Life continued on for the people of Sansmont.

Until one day, the Flame finally went out...
